In order to lead a healthy, balanced life, we must care not only for the physical body but also our emotional, mental and spiritual needs; the chakras provide a picture of the state of health within these 4 elements of ourselves as well as allowing us to work within their subtle energies to bring us more into balance. By maintaining an open and smooth flowing channel of energy through our chakras, we can pre-empt the onset of physical disease and bring ourselves into mental, emotional and spiritual balance
The Chakras are represented as points on the surface of the body of vital energetic significance. From each of the points, a fan shaped whorl of spiralling energy emanates through the more subtle bodies of the etheric, emotional and mental (Aura). Each Chakra is related to an endocrine gland, meridian, internal organ, spinal level, reflected area, colour, sound, gem and emotion.
It is said that there are 7 Major Chakras and 21 Minor ones. The seven major Chakras are positioned within the spinal column from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. They are known as the Base, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Brow and Crown Chakras.
