Holistic, Hot Stone and Indian Head Massage

Massage

For many thousands of years, massage has been used instinctively for healing the body and mind; it is probably the oldest form of medical treatment.

A massage may relieve specific pain such as back pain, neck and shoulder aches and headaches. People who have high blood pressure, difficulty sleeping, depression and arthritis may also benefit.
The effects of massage tend to be accumulative. One massage may produce an improvement but it may only last a short time; the more regular the treatments, the longer the effects appear to last.

Holistic Massage

Holistic massage is about connecting, calming, nurturing, comforting and deep relaxation. It is an unhurried approach, soft music and essential oils adding to this a feeling of ease and relaxation. The holistic approach treats the whole person, integrating the energies of the body, mind and sprit. A variety of techniques and strokes are used enabling you to feel deeply relaxed and producing a feeling of well-being.

By relaxing the body, massage can relieve soreness and tension. Taunt painful muscles can be loosened and relaxed and the circulation of blood and lymph stimulated. This results in the removal of toxins from the body and the eventual restoration of balanced tone in the muscles and greater freedom of movement in the joints.

Hot Stone Massage

To further enhance Holistic Massage, hot water heated basalt lava stones are used as part of the treatment. In this therapy, the stones are used for their penetrative warmth to help release deep muscular tension, congestion and improve the general circulation far more effectively than with general massage. Stones of varying sizes are placed on key points of the body, while others combined with traditional massage techniques are used to give a deep releasing massage.

Cold stones can also be used on areas of inflammation and muscular injury. The use of both hot and cold stones has a thermo-therapeutic effect on the circulatory system which helps the body detoxify and heal.

Stone massage leaves you feeling relaxed and energised.

Indian Head Massage

This massage therapy dates back thousands of years. It is used mainly for relaxation and relief from mental and physical stress.

The massage concentrates on the areas most prone to stress and tension; the shoulders, neck, upper back, arms, face and scalp are worked on using a combination of both gentle, tension releasing strokes and invigorating scalp massage. This is ideal for those in desk bound jobs or who carry tension in their neck and shoulders.

Indian Head Massage can help you to think more clearly due to an increase of blood to the brain. A loosening of the scalp will occur. This together with the increased blood supply will help the condition and growth of your hair.

Indian Head Massage can help you sleep at night. It is useful for headaches, eye-strain, sinusitis muscle tension in the neck or shoulders. It also eliminates waste material and toxins from the body.
The massage is performed with the client sitting in a chair fully clothed. It lasts about 45 minutes.
